We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Lintalow Hashiguchi, an artist belonging to our gallery.
The exhibition, held at the exhibition space of Tsutaya Books in Kyoto, will showcase a collection of works created by Rintaro Hashiguchi as he pursued and contemplated the question, "What exactly is writing?" The new work "telephonix," which was created for this exhibition and is also featured as the main visual, is a bold, large-scale piece inspired by the idea that "it is wondrous how the voice transmitted through the air takes a visually perceptible form as characters, flows through distant space and time, and is resurrected as a voice once again when read." The exhibition will also feature fragments of the "mysterious book" created while imagining how modern characters will be conveyed to the future 1000 years from now, the enigmatic character "MADDRUNKER" who appears in that book, and the series "tama SEE Nation" which imagines the origins of characters.
Please come and see the collection of works that explore the "symbols" used to convey information before the birth of "characters" and attempt to trace the origins of words.
